this morning as I crossed the bridge
the light was eerie and surreal, early morning fog rising, spring greenery barely there on stark branches...a water colour awash with the gentleness of spring..
I felt compelled to stop..and look

...in less than a week i will be enjoying my daughters gorgeous homemade cookies, safely tucked underneath a netted canopy safe from bugs but not from hungry eyes...
'whats the point'

When I joined my sister at her campsite late last year, this carefully placed rockpile was in front of her camper..the picture then became her Christmas card!

Sometimes, as improbable as that may be, we find ourselves not quite free of the past, but lurching toward the future...inch by bittersweet inch...
This morning I took a slow walk around the garden
stopped to smell the flowers
and was tempted by greenery
looked at loves remains
crawled over the driftwood drying on the table
said hello to an old friend
and slipped quietly
into bed..

For today, life continues. I look around and see some of us in its merciful grip...its a rollercoaster a white knuckle ride, you holding on tightly with each sweeping turn. My heart..all our hearts... weep as we stand feeling helpless and hold you with allll of the love we know.
On the home front, my trip to South Africa has finally been booked. I am flying via Heathrow this time on Virgin Atlantic to Johannesburg and then on to Durban, I leave on the 4th April and come back on the 27th. I had 2 brief chats to my grand daughters this morning, and their excitement is tangible, bubbly..infectious. Oh I love them sooo...my conversation with Bella went something like this:
'I'm soo excited Nani'
'me too' I smile 'anything really special you want me to bring?'
pause
'just you' she whispers 'you're my something special'
I could have wept.
When I get back I will hit the ground running. I am relocating to Sacramento, in May...AND have decided to (finally) start my masters degree in August. Ok Ive enrolled....and I feel quite exhilarated/scared witless with the thought!!
Start HRT on Monday..three months of menopause is quite enough for me....
and now I'm off to sleep..tooo much reeling through my head!
for LeeLee

Senga loves the beach, she is in perpetual motion and difficult to photograph, here she pauses for a moment before leaping into white water after a flock of nervous seagulls...

'youre kidding right?'
'nope'
'Im in Sacramento'
